ok I bought a DuoX2 GS Cromwell mod chip. did install on my xbox 1.4 with D0 to top side spot the first time and booted it up and everything was perfect. But being a newbie to chipping I thought I had to unsoldier it to be able to flash it. so I unmod'd it and then found out I was on the right path to begin with. So upon the remodding and checking everything the dang chip doesn't appear to be noticed with switch flipped to either side, and no pretty red flashing led off the chip like I had the first go around.

All I get now is the standard MS xbox dash on boot up no matter what it appears I try. the xbox still plays fine and everything else so from what I can see, no FRAG (though I'm not 100% sure what that is, but I do know that it's operating normally as if no chip). I have checked all my contact points on the board where the header goes threw the motherboard and also at the chip and everything appears tight and in good contact. unless it's actually within the header where it seperates I can't see where I could have goofed.

any ideas? and I need a little help finding a flash file ready to go for my xbox 1.4 for a dvd...anyne have one?

after going back over everything I found it to be nothing more than a cold soldier joint. so I repaired it and all is well again. I boot it up and LED on chip starts flashin and then it tells me my drives etc I have and then asks for a cd. I know I have a xbox 1.4 and I know I need a flash file for it that will support larger hard drive, and also will work fine on a dvd-r. Anyone know where I can find the bin ready to go or solid instructions on how to build my own? thanks

Here. With a DuoX2 you can have a 512k BIOS - I'd suggest X2.5035. Get the right version for your Xbox - NOT the 1.6 version!

before discovering the 5035 flash I had already flashed it with the flash previous to it. The mod went off well. bios flashed fine but boy does it boot to dash slow as can be. I mean easily 2 minutes or more. I currently have it booting to XBMC which I did the 1 step install with Auto-Installer Deluxe and added all the programs. it works great but just like I said it takes a long time to boot it up. basicly I get the big green xbox "X" and it hangs out for a while.. probably 45 secs or so. then the "Xecuter" tag pops up below it and then it hangs out for probably another minute to minute and a half usually.

also thanks for pitchin in here. I'll also be posting in the XBMC thread as well as I have some question in getting it setup properly.
